Meet Lauren Ma
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. Special Needs Parent. Your family's financial advocate.
Traditional financial advice doesn't cut it when you're raising a child (or supporting a loved one) with disabilities; families like ours need financial advisors who actually understand this journey—not just from textbooks, but from lived experience. Learn more about my journey here.

How We Work Together
At MorphicapitalTM we believe financial planning for special needs families must be:
Comprehensive
Effective planning must address not only financial needs but also emotional, social, and legal considerations. In tandem with planning for your personal life transitions, we integrate specialized accounts and strategies to help your child or loved one preserve benefits and enjoy a meaningful life, while maximizing your after-tax wealth.
Collaborative
We partner with your attorney, tax advisors, family members (as desired) to ensure everyone's aligned.
Empathetic
We understand the emotional weight of these decisions and create a judgment-free space to discuss fears and hopes.
Proactive
Early planning is critical to ensure financial security for both you and your loved one with disabilities. We don't wait for crises—we anticipate transitions, policy changes, and life events to keep you ahead of the curve.
Lifelong
Your child/loved one's needs won't end at age 65—neither does our planning. We're here for the long haul.

The Diagnosis
When my oldest son (now 19) was around 2.5 years old, a specialist evaluated and diagnosed him with autism. I remember, her words struck me like a jolt of lightning. An overwhelming wave of fear washed over. My heart raced. My face grew warm. Nausea set in. My eyes welled up with tears. Until now, I envisioned a beautiful future for my son; the friends he would make, the person he would marry, the kids they might have, the career he'd pursue, the adventures we would go on together. In a flash, I watched as our world shattered from above, and the bright future I had imagined for my son crumbled along with it. It was a soul crushing moment. Still, I knew I had to find a way to fight through it for my son. But how?
Professional Journey
Before I founded MorphiCapitalTM I served as a Senior Wealth Advisor at Vanguard, where I exclusively advised individuals and families with a minimum of $5 million in investable assets at the firm. Prior to that, I worked alongside some of the top financial advisors in the industry as Vice President, Financial Planning Director at Morgan Stanley in the Bay area. Together, we crafted elegant strategies to address some of their clients' most complex financial challenges.
By then, I had earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional designation and was nearly finished with my MBA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagger Business School. Until the VP role at Morgan Stanley, I soaked up as much financial planning and investment knowledge as possible, as a Financial Advisor at both Morgan Stanley and UBS.
Throughout my career, I've been fortunate enough to have ready access to extensive intellectual capital, human expertise, and cutting edge technology. Yet, for all of the bells and whistles, I couldn't help but notice the gaping void in the financial services industry with respect to disability planning. Special needs families face unique challenges:
- ABLE accounts and special needs trusts most advisors don't understand
- Government benefits with complex rules that change constantly
- Transition planning at age 18-21 that can make or break lifelong security
- The emotional weight of planning for a child or loved one's entire lifetime in addition to yours, your spouse's, and your other children's needs (like college, weddings, and home purchases)
I built MorphiCapitalTM to serve families like ours who need (and deserve) more than cookie-cutter financial strategies and advice.
